For a few years now I've been keeping an active interest in energy security, and not purely for the impact that peak oil will have (or is having) on world oil production, but in how governments, corporations and communities rise to the challenges of implementing emerging technologies, resolve potential conflicts and adapt (or not) their policies accordingly. The interplay between producers and net importers has always struck me as fascinating in this increasingly interdependent world, and the degree to which they compete for resources whilst struggling to maintain peace and order. I plan to write an essay at some point addressing this complex issue but in the meantime I have a couple of videos and some articles which may be of interest:
